This full day class is geared to those who are interested in building on previous skills or those who are interested in a more wild and authentic wilderness skills experience. Participants will be constructing long term shelters, complete with a raised bed and firewall that can be used in all seasons. This will be followed by a workshop on how to start fires in wet and cold conditions using a variety of methods. The day will end with a look at winter survival foods and wild medicines that be a support in both a wilderness living and emergency survival setting. Please note that this class will include some heavy lifting and sawing. It is open to all ages (5-18) however younger kids may need some support from parents.
This is not a drop off program. If your student is not accompanied by an adult, they will not be able to participate in the program. Parents and children 5 and under are free with paying child.
**Please note that for these classes we will be working on the crown land behind Evergreen Rec Area. The closest washroom from the work site is a bit of a walk. We will be meeting in the parking lot and participants can use the washrooms then.
