Industrial Arts Course - Knife Making (2)

This intensive workshop will give you the opportunity to not only learn design skills, metalworking and woodworking techniques, but will send you home with a one-of-a-kind, hand-crafted hunting knife of your own.

The cost of $180 per student covers materials and instruction.

The course will cover:

  • Elements of Knife design
  • Layout
  • Hand Sawing
  • Drilling
  • Files and Filing
  • Sanding
  • Heat Treating O1 carbon steel
  • Buffing
  • Riveting
  • Gluing
  • Sharpening

Be prepared for lots of hands-on work. Course runs from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm on Friday and Saturday.


Aulden Reid is a certified industrial arts teacher and former home schooling dad. This course is for students between the ages of 12 and 18. (Sorry, no exceptions on the age.)  A parent is welcome and encouraged to participate alongside their child.

Accommodation and Meals: 

You may drive to and from the workshop each day (from home or a nearby hotel), or you have the option to bring your trailer and camp in a Lloydminster campground (you cover the cost) or at the instructor’s estate (free of charge). You are responsible for your own meals and snacks throughout the course.
