Medicine Hat Fall Family BBQ

When: Sunday, September 25, 4:00-7:00pm
Where: Echo Dale Regional Park 

We will provide hamburgers, hotdogs, and ice cream. Bottles of water are also available. 

Please bring a side item to share. Lawn Chairs are always a good option. Consider planning for your favourite picnic activity and inviting other families to join. Maybe you enjoy throwing a frisbee, playing catch or rallying in a spikeball game.

Is anyone keen on building a campfire then tending to it? Let us know!

Okotoks Catholic Homeschool Group Meetup

Date: Last Tuesday afternoon of every month.
Location: St James Parish 338060 32 St E, Okotoks

Monthly meetings at St James Catholic Church on the LAST Tuesday afternoon of the month. Field trips on the SECOND Tuesday of the month.

All are welcome, content geared towards Grades K-3

Parents can stay and socialize with younger/older siblings!

Please bring water bottles and snacks for yourselves and children attending classes

Eckville Fall Social and Farm Tour

Where: Hoven Farms near Eckville
When: Wednesday, Sept. 28th from 10:30 - 2:30

Bring your own packed lunch and WISDOM will provide juice boxes and cookies. 

Tim and Lorianne Hoven are long time WISDOM homeschoolers as well as dedicated organic beef farmers. They are happy to welcome a limited number of guests on September 28th, so sign up soon! They have a variety of things to see at the farm and a great outdoor play area for the kids. Don't forget lawn chairs as we'll have ample visiting time.

You will receive directions after registration. Facilitator Catherine van Kampen will be there and possibly a few more.

Nature Hike at Mctaggart Nature Reserve / Larch Sanctuary

When: September 29, 2022 11am

Join us for a hike through the Mctaggart Nature Reserve (one of our family’s favourite places to explore!)  This walk is especially beautiful in autumn as the leaves and larch trees change colour! It’s a tranquil nature escape as well; despite being in the city and near major roads, you can barely hear the sounds of traffic and city life. Instead, notice the wind whistling through the trees, the babbling of Whitemud Creek, the slight ripples of Oxbow Lake and the chipping of white-throated sparrows. The area is also great for bird watching and wildlife sightings. 

Trail conditions: Narrow dirt trail overgrown in some areas and muddy/slippery after rain. Many roots stick out on the trail that could pose a tripping hazard. Lots of sharp, short upward and downward inclines.

Difficulty: Moderate 

Signage is not obvious for parking at Larch Sanctuary. We will be parking on south side of 23 ave, right turn heading east bound (between Rabbit Hill Road and 119 St)
