Red Deer Spring Social, Potluck, and Board Game afternoon

When: Sunday, May 7th, 3 to 6pm
Where: Bower Kin Community Centre, 85 Boyce St. Red Deer

If you live anywhere close to the Red Deer area and if you home school (or if you are thinking about it), please join us!

Join other home schooling families and WISDOM Facilitators Sue Peachment, Catherine van Kampen, and Paul van den Bosch for food, conversation, and your favourite board/card game!

CLT8

Online

The Classical Learning Test 8 (CLT8) is for students in grades 7 or 8. These tests focus on numeracy and literacy, and can be a useful diagnostic and summative assessment tool, as well as a high school readiness and/or equivalency exam. CLT can be conveniently accessed from home.

Prerequisite: Mediated Learning Foundations

Parents, join us for an online parent training course.

Workshop runs for three Tuesdays: May 9, 16, and 23, from 7:00 pm — 9:00 pm.

This series of three 2-hour sessions will include instruction, participation, and opportunity for Q & A. As participants meet in a virtual classroom, a microphone headset, a strong internet connection and speakers are required.

Chess: Advanced Continuation Class L - All Ages

Prerequisite: Chess: Intermediate Continuation Class 
When: May 4 Rescheduled Thursdays, May 11 – June 15
Time: Noon – 1:00pm

This Workshop is for students who have completed the beginner and intermediate chess workshops and are ready for some fine tuning to their skills. 

Students have learned core chess concepts, while solving puzzles to improve problem solving skills . In Advanced Chess, it's time to put those skills into action. This class focuses on real-time game playing with personalized coaching, and adds in new concepts that take the game to the next level.

Chess Club - Olds

Date: Friday evenings from 7-9:30
Location: Olds AB

Chess club for ages 7 and up.

Parents are encouraged to stay and play but this is optional. There is also space to visit.

Please bring $10/month per family plus a snack to share. Donations to the instructor when there is a lesson would be appriciated.

Vermilion and Area Spring Social Event

When: Saturday, May 13, 2023, 11 am – 4 pm
Where: Vermilion Provincial Park

This event is open to all current WISDOM families as well as those contemplating home schooling. This is a great opportunity to visit with other home schoolers and members of the WISDOM team and find out more about how WISDOM can serve you best.

WISDOM will provide hot dogs, buns, condiments and beverages. We will enjoy a meal together as well as have information time, door prizes, games and socializing. This event will run rain or shine. We will also be hosting an optional mountain bike ride through the Vermilion Provincial Park bike trails, so bring out your mountain bikes and helmets!
