Introduction to Bird Watching A

When: Monday, September 18, 2023, 9:00 - 10:30am
Where: Whitemud Creek Ravine Savage Centre parking lot, Edmonton
Price: $17 per participant
Parental presence is required but one parent may attend free of charge.

Did you know bird watching can rewire the brain? Scientists have learned that watching and identification improves mental health by heightening observation and memory skills. In this course, students (and parents!) will learn the basics of bird identification, including learning to recognize and identify birds based on their color, size, shape, and behavior. Attendees will be led through Edmonton’s Whitemud Creek Ravine, an excellent location for viewing a variety of species, and will have the opportunity to gain real-time bird identification practice under the guidance of experienced instructors.

Survival: Plant and Mushroom ID and Wild Cooking E - Myrnam

When: Monday, September 18 from 1 - 4pm 
Where: NEW LOCATION: 53°39'24.9"N 111°00'53.6"W

Join Kaykima for a wander through the forest and discover what plant, berries, and fungi are edible, medicinal and useful. We will also learn how to identify potentially toxic plants, berries and fungi. The class will end with a wild cooking demonstration where participants will learn methods of preparing what you have foraged.

Lethbridge and Area Fall Gathering

When: Monday, September 18, 2023, 4-8pm
Where: John Martin Recreation Centre - located in Pavan Park

WISDOM will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, condiments and beverages. We will enjoy a meal together as wel as have an information time, door prizes, games and socializing. This event will run rain or shine.

Please bring: potluck sides, salads and/or desserts to share with the group. (Please note: if you have a highly restrictive diet, feel free to bring your own food if you wish.) There are many activities to enjoy at the facility, but you are welcome
to bring other lawn games, board games, or lawn chairs if you would like.

Date: Wednesday, September 20, 5-8pm
Location: Renfrew Community Hall - 811 Radford Road NE, Calgary, AB

Food details:
We will provide a taco/fajita bar with all the trimmings for everyone. There will be Gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian options available. We ask that you bring a side dish to share with everyone. We will provide dessert as well. 

Please join us for some outdoor games, playing on the playground, having supper and getting to know other home schoolers. We will also have a time of talent sharing. We are excited to provide a time of fun through family, individual or group talent sharing. This could be a story, a game, a song, a project you've done, art you created or a family skit.
