Essay Skills: Write Your Best English 30 Diploma Exam E6-week workshop This workshop is intended to assist students who are preparing for the written portion of the English 30 Diploma exam. Students will learn to decode essay prompts and utilize effective essay formatting. Applicants need to have advanced writing experience. This workshop covers the 2 essay types of the written portion of the exam: the Critical/Analytical Response to Literature and the Personal Response. Students will be taken through an 6 week program to cover each of the 7 scoring categories of the exam to help students achieve the highest score they can. Students will meet up to 90 minutes twice a week, and will have lots of hands-on writing practice and feedback. Marks for essays and mock-exam in this workshop may be used toward the ELA course challenge portfolio. Workshop acceptance based upon application. A maximum of eight students will be accepted. |

CLT 8 (Grade 7-8 Assessment) BThe Classical Learning Test 8 (CLT8) is for students in grades 7 or 8. These tests focus on numeracy and literacy, and can be a useful diagnostic and summative assessment tool, as well as a high school readiness and/or equivalency exam. CLT can be conveniently accessed from home.

Indoor Rock Wall Climbing - Edmonton EAimed towards the first-timer, this 2 hour session allows participants to learn about the sport of climbing through hands-on (and feet-on) skills. This means instruction on putting on an approved climbing harness, learning how to belay (manage the ropes) and a technique tip or two. This session is designed primarily to give your group a lot of time for climbing. Instructors are there to help guide you up the walls and to make certain that you enjoy a secure and fun filled climbing class. This course includes all the necessary equipment and instructors to facilitate your visit. Ages 5 and up. Parental presence is required. Parents may register and climb as well if they wish. |

Join us for an online information session with answers to your specific questions, information and resources. As participants meet in a virtual classroom, a microphone headset, a strong internet connection and speakers are required. Survival: Torch Making and Fire Starters C - EdmontonWhen: October 16 from 1 - 4pm Since winter is coming let's warm up with some fire related bushcrafting. In this workshop participants will learn how to make a torch with only natural materials as well as how to make a natural firestarter that you can take home and use on future adventures. There will also be a knife skill component to this workshop to ensure safe use! This program is geared towards home school students ages 6 – 17. While parents are not obligated to participate in these workshops, a parental representative must be present for students. Parents and younger siblings are also welcome to stay for the duration of the workshop free of charge. We ask that paid participants be given the space to fully engage and participate in the program. We run our programs rain or shine and encourage parents/students to check the weather on the day of and dress accordingly. We suggest wearing layers, as well as long pants and closed toed shoes. |
