Fundamentals of Chess - All Ages E

Online

When: Mondays, September 16 - October 21, from 12 - 1pm
Where: Online

Does your child love to play chess? This six-week program is a unique opportunity to play the game while improving skills in Problem Solving, Deductive Reasoning and Creative Thinking by solving chess puzzles and executing a systematic process to beat your opponent.

While this program is called "beginner" it will challenge your chess player and keep them engaged, even if they have been playing for years.

Lethbridge and Area Fall Gathering

When: Monday, September 16, 2024, 4-8pm
Where: John Martin Recreation Centre (located in Pavan Park)

WISDOM will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, condiments and beverages. We will enjoy a meal together as well as have an information time, door prizes, games and socializing. This event will run rain or shine.

Please bring: Please bring potluck sides, salads and/or desserts to share with the group. (Please note: if you have a highly restrictive diet, feel free to bring your own food if you wish.) There are many activities to enjoy at the facility, but you are welcome to bring other lawn games, board games, or lawn chairs if you would like.

Fire Starter Making - Lethbridge

Minimum of 5 people needed for this event to run

This class will cover new and traditional methods of making fire starter helpers. Participants will be able to make their own fire starter helpers out of mostly natural materials that they can take home and use for their next fire. 

Spruce Salve - Lethbridge

Time: 1-3pm

Learn about the many wonders of the spruce tree. Discuss the origins of spruce salve and its many beneficial medicinal applications. Participants will assist in making spruce salve from start to finish and will have the opportunity to take a sample home.

Calgary Fall Family Gathering

When: Wednesday, September 18, 2024, 5-8:30pm
Where: Renfrew Community Hall (811 Radford Rd NE, Calgary)

Please join us for an evening of fun to get to know other WISDOM homeschoolers in the Calgary area. We will share a meal together, play outside and inside, and enjoy a talent show! If you are interested, please plan to share a family skit, song or dance at the talent show.
If an individual parent or child has a talent they want to do or share (like artwork or inventions) that would be great too.

If you'd like to participate in the talent show: email the hosts with the participant's name(s) and how long their act is.
 

Please bring: A potluck side to accompany the meal, card/board games, outdoor games, and whatever your family needs for an evening of fun!

This is a potluck supper event! Ice breakers and board games will follow.

Please bring: Families are asked to please bring a potluck main course option and either a salad or dessert for the potluck portion of the event.
