Foraging Walk - Lethbridge B

When: June 15, 10am-noon

Learn about 10-20 species of wild edible plants and fungus, with a focus on their use in the home kitchen.

Kevin Kossowan has been on 100+ wild food adventures in the Canadian wild for his twice James Beard Foundation award nominated web series ‘From The Wild’. He’s taught field cookery at the Global Bushcraft Symposium, co-creates the series ‘Wild Harvest’ with Les Stroud and chef Paul Rogalski airing on PBS and National Geographic, has led numerous foraging workshops and forage-to-table workshops, and regularly works with chefs exploring the culinary potential of the Canadian wilderness.

This event is only for WISDOM families. A parent or graduate may attend by themselves; students must be accompanied by an attending parent.

CLT (College Entrance Exam & Grade 11-12 Assessment) Jun 18

The Classical Learning Test (CLT) is a post-secondary entrance exam, created as an alternative to the SAT and recognized at many post-secondary institutions across the United States, and a growing number in Canada.

Foraging/Wild Medicine - Lethbridge

When: June 18, 1 - 4pm
Where: Lethbridge, Indian Battle Park @ Alberta Picnic Shelter

Every trip into the woods can bring something new! Join us for a wander through the forest and learn what plants and fungi are edible, medicinal and useful. 

The class will end with some tea and perhaps, depending on what we find, some foraged food. Feel free to bring pictures or fungi specimens for the group to ID with field guides!

WISDOM 30th Anniversary Camp

Join us for WISDOM’s Family Camp, celebrating 30 years of WISDOM Home Schooling!

WISDOM began as a way to meet the needs at the heart of home schooling families, with service offered ‘by home schoolers, for home schoolers’. That passion for this amazing lifestyle continues to this day, as we continue to work to help parents teach their whole child. Join us at this fun family camp to connect with other WISDOM families, reminisce, and celebrate!

When:

  • June 19: Evening Arrival
  • June 20: Full Day of Activities
  • June 21: Full Day of Activities, including Dance Instruction, Catered Dinner, and a Formal Dance
  • June 22: Clean Up and Depart

Where: Battle Lake 4H Centre

Accommodation options include camping in your trailer/rv or tent, or booking dorm space or multi-family teepee (sleeps 15, only 3 available). First registered, first booked! No hookups/powered sites available. Families may bring their own food or purchase meal passes.

Activities Include: archery, baseball, swimming, boating/kayaking (bring your own watercraft), chess, soccer, card making, perler beads ...and more!

Cost: $275 per family or $100 per individual
