Dunvegan Bridge Fall BBQ/Potluck

When: Sunday,  September 21st from 1pm to 5pm

Where: Dunvegan Bridge (between Rycroft and Fairview, just north of the bridge crossing the Peace River).

Bring salads and desserts and - of course! - WATER BALLOONS!!!

This is your chance to soak a WISDOM Facilitator!

A BBQ main course, fixings, and beverages will be provided by WISDOM.

Edmonton and Area Fall Social

When: Sunday, September 21, 2025, from 4-8pm

Where: Meadowlodge Bible Camp (MBC), near Cooking Lake

Directions: MBC is southeast of Sherwood Park on the north side of Cooking Lake near the intersection of Range Rd 215 and Township Rd 515. (Located next to Birch Bay Ranch Camp)

This event is open to all current WISDOM home schooling families. This is a great opportunity to visit with other home schoolers and members of the WISDOM team, and find out more about how WISDOM can serve you best.

WISDOM will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, condiments and beverages. We will enjoy a meal together as well as have an information time, door prizes, games and socializing. This event will run rain or shine. 

NOTE: Similar to other years, families who wish to set up a table to sell baking, crafts or curriculum are welcome to do so. Please email Liz Gurnett with details.

Please bring: For the meal, please bring potluck sides, salads or desserts to share with the group. (Please note: if you have a highly restrictive diet, feel free to bring your own food if you wish.)  There are many activities to enjoy at the facility, but you are welcome to bring other lawn games, board games, or lawn chairs if you would like.

Survival: Fall Foraging - Calgary

When: September 22, 2025 from 1-3
Where: Calgary - Edworthy Park
(Meet at Picnic Site 1)

Join Kaykima for an immersive Fall Foraging Class where you'll reconnect with the land and learn to identify the edible, medicinal, and practical gifts nature offers during the autumn season. Fall is a great time to harvest berries at their sweetest and to track down some late summer mushrooms!  Whether you're a beginner or have experience in the wild, this class offers a rich, hands-on opportunity to deepen your understanding of the natural world around you.

Please wear long pants as we will most likely go off trail. Feel free to bring any berries or mushrooms to class that we can identify as well!

When: September 24, 2025 from 10-12pm
Where: Lethbridge - Indian Battle Park
(Meet at Alberta Picnic Shelter)

Parental presence required

This class will start off with a discussion about wilderness safety/what to do if you get lost, followed by a discussion about effective types of shelters for a variety of conditions. Then participants will get hands on and build their own emergency shelter with minimal tools.

Survival: Full Day Combo: Lethbridge

When: September 24, 2025 from 10am - 3pm (bring a bagged lunch)
Where: Lethbridge - Indian Battle Park
(Meet at Alberta Picnic Shelter)

Take advantage of both our Firecraft and Basic Wilderness Survival workshops at a discounted rate. This class will start off with a discussion about wilderness safety/what to do if you get lost, followed by a discussion about effective types of shelters for a variety of conditions. Participants will have the opportunity to practice fire starting using basic methods. This class is a precursor to Advanced Fire Starting. When: Thursday, September 25, 1-4pm
