Lethbridge and Area Fall Social Gathering

When:  Monday, September 29, 2025, 4-8pm
Where: John Martin Recreation Centre - located in Pavan Park

This event is open to all current WISDOM home schooling families. This is a great opportunity to visit with other home schoolers and members of the WISDOM team, and find out more about how WISDOM can serve you best.

WISDOM will provide hamburgers, hot dogs, buns, condiments and beverages. We will enjoy a meal together as well as have an information time, door prizes, games and socializing. This event will run rain or shine.

Please bring: Please bring potluck sides, salads and/or desserts to share with the group. (Please note: if you have a highly restrictive diet, feel free to bring your own food if you wish.)  There are many activities to enjoy at the facility, but you are welcome to bring other lawn games, board games, or lawn chairs if you would like.

Fundamentals of Chess - Ages 6-10 D

When: Wednesdays from 10:00 - 11:00am October 1 - November 5
Where: Online

Does your child love to play chess? This six-week program is a unique opportunity to play the game while improving skills in Problem Solving, Deductive Reasoning and Creative Thinking by solving chess puzzles and executing a systematic process to beat your opponent.

While this program is called "beginner" it will challenge your chess player and keep them engaged, even if they have been playing for years.

Chess: Advanced Continuation Class X - All Ages

Prerequisite: Chess: Intermediate Continuation Class 
When: Wednesdays from 9:00 - 10:00am October 1 - November 5
Where: Online

This Workshop is for students who have completed the beginner and intermediate chess workshops and are ready for some fine tuning to their skills. 

Students have learned core chess concepts, while solving puzzles to improve problem solving skills . In Advanced Chess, it's time to put those skills into action. This class focuses on real-time game playing with personalized coaching, and adds in new concepts that take the game to the next level.

Calgary Family Gathering

When: Wednesday, October 1, 2025, 5:00-8:00pm 

Where: Renfrew Community Hall - 811 Radford Rd NE, Calgary, AB 

What: Family supper & Minute to Win It Game Challenge

Join current homeschooling families for an evening of socializing while playing Minute to Win It Games or cheering on the teams and having supper together. Members of the WISDOM team will be present to answer questions and help you connect with other WISDOM families. We will supply the main supper dish (TBD) and dessert. If your family has dietary restrictions, you are welcome to bring your own food; just let us know when you register that you will not need provided food. 

Please bring: We ask that you bring a potluck side to share. If you'd like to sit outside, please bring lawn chairs. We also welcome board/card games to play while we visit.
