Biology 20 Lab Seminar - Calgary

This program will introduce students to the scientific method and develop their knowledge and skills in the realm of Biology. They will study and conduct experiments regarding: Scientific Method (Rate of Fermentation of Sugar); Evolution (from a Christian perspective); Photosynthesis; General Anatomical Systems (Fetal Pig Dissection); and Respiratory System (Pulmonary Function Testing). Students will write a lab report for each experiment and will receive personalized feedback to aid and improve further studies. 

The Biology 20 laboratory seminar offered through WISDOM Home Schooling and The Gilbertine Academy is designed to be a self-enclosed program. Students who are not currently studying Biology 20 for course credit can benefit from this program. The Biology 20 laboratory seminar can also be used for 30% of their portfolio in their course credit challenge or to use it as the Science requirement for a WISDOM Home Schooling Diploma.

For my son to attend the in-person Physics 30 labs with Mr. Lambert we had to drive from Edmonton to Calgary and back each time, but it was definitely worth it.  They were fun and instructional, providing a deeper understanding of the Physics concepts as well as team collaboration.  Mr. Lambert was discerning and knowledgeable. His explanations were thorough, and he challenged the students to think for themselves. Each lab was subsequently written up according to the scientific method so that students gained working knowledge, ability, and confidence in writing lab reports. The work to be completed in preparation for each lab was sent out on a timely basis and Mr. Lambert made himself available at set times for any questions the students may have. My other children are looking forward to when they can take labs with Mr. Lambert!

We were very glad that these labs were offered by Wisdom, because we could continue homeschooling through grade 11 and 12 and my son still got the invaluable experience to have done a lab with all that pertains to it: learning the names of the tools used, experiencing theoretical ideas right before his eyes, including errors, and then taking all that and writing lab reports from it.

Mr Lambert also got the students prepared for every lab by having them do quizzes, and answering any questions they might have in an online session. So we feel that our son is now adequately prepared to study science at University.
