When: 1-3pm October 6
Where: Red Deer - Kin Kanyon (Meet by playground)
Building on the skills learned in fire starting, this class focuses on understanding fire as a living system. Students will learn how to build and maintain a fire that is efficient, safe, and suited to different conditions.
Topics will include:
- Choosing appropriate fire materials
- How different types of wood affect a fire
- Fire structure and airflow
- Troubleshooting common problems
Students will explore questions such as:
- Why is my fire producing too much smoke?
- Why won’t my fire grow?
- How do I build a fire in wet or challenging conditions?
Through hands-on practice, participants will learn that successful fire building is less about creating a flame and more about understanding the needs of the fire.
