Survival: Spring Foraging/Spruce Tip Tea E - Stony Plain

Survival: Spring Foraging/Spruce Tip Tea E - Stony Plain

When: June 19 from 1 - 3pm
Where: Chickakoo Recreation Area - Stony Plain
(meet at upper parking lot by washrooms)

Whether in a survival situation or simply going for a hike, knowing where to find food and useful materials outdoors is an important skill. Participants will learn about the traditional uses of local plants, fungi and trees, as well as how to identify other useful materials that would support wilderness survival.  The class will end with some spruce tip tea. Please bring your own reusable mug! This class makes a great precursor to the Wild Food and Outdoor Cooking class.

This program is geared towards home school students ages 6 – 17. While parents are not obligated to participate in these workshops, a parental representative must be present for students. Parents and younger siblings are also welcome to stay for the duration of the workshop free of charge. We ask that paid participants be given the space to fully engage and participate in the program.

We run our programs rain or shine and encourage parents/students to check the weather on the day of the workshop and dress accordingly. We suggest wearing layers, as well as long pants and closed toed shoes.
