Job Purpose
Create a clean, orderly and safe environment by performing a wide variety of cleaning and maintenance activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Routine building and grounds maintenance and inspection
- Ensure facilities are maintained in a healthy, safe, sanitary and timely manner in keeping with WHMIS safety standards.
- Maintain floors in a clean state by sweeping, scrubbing and/or mopping them
- Empty and clean trash receptacles and collect recycling; take trash to dump
- Clean, sanitize, and supply bathrooms
- Clean and service custodial equipment as needed
- Perform minor repairs on furniture, buildings, and equipment
- Report any safety, sanitary, or fire hazards to the appropriate department
- Ensure grounds areas are clean and orderly
- Setup/takedown chairs and tables for meetings and events
Qualifications & Personal Qualities
- High School Completion required
- No prior education or experience necessary
- Previous custodial and grounds experience preferred
- Must be reliable, punctual, and have attention to detail, and be capable of working with minimal supervision
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Comfortable squatting, twisting, bending, and kneeling while using tools and performing maintenance tasks
- Possess working knowledge of the methods, technique, and materials used in custodial work
- Ability to climb ladders and work from heights
- Familiar with operating, caring for, and storing custodial equipment and supplies
Working Conditions
Continuous variable-time, wage status. Some evenings and weekends are required.
