Fundamentals of Chess L - Ages 6-10

Online

When: Mondays, November 13 - December 18, 2023 from 9:00-10:00am

Does your child love to play chess? This six-week program is a unique opportunity to play the game while improving skills in Problem Solving, Deductive Reasoning and Creative Thinking by solving chess puzzles and executing a systematic process to beat your opponent.

While this program is called "beginner" it will challenge your chess player and keep them engaged, even if they have been playing for years.

Chess: Intermediate Continuation Class S - All Ages

Prerequisite: Fundamentals of Chess
When: Mondays, 10:00-11:00am - November 13 - December 18, 2023

Intermediate chess course is for students who want to learn complex concepts that revolve around seeing at least 2 moves ahead or more. This challenging 6 week course helps students reach their full potential as they master all fundamentals and start visualizing multiple variations. Classes can only be taken by students who took the beginner chess class offered by WISDOM or for students who contacted Mr Bloom directly to verify skill level.

Portfolio Workshop A

  • How do you develop a portfolio?
  • How do you tailor a portfolio to assist in making the most of your education and gaining access to post secondary education?

This workshop is for WISDOM families only.

Grande Prairie Family Get Together

Ongoing Coffee & Conversation for moms at Anella's house on the second Monday evening of each month, 7:30 - 9:30pm.

No childcare will be provided but nursing babies are welcome.

Concurrently, there will be teen activities (movie night, board games etc).

Chess: Advanced Continuation Class M - All Ages

Prerequisite: Chess: Intermediate Continuation Class 
When: Tuesdays, 12:00-1:00pm - November 14 - December 19, 2023

This Workshop is for students who have completed the beginner and intermediate chess workshops and are ready for some fine tuning to their skills. 

Students have learned core chess concepts, while solving puzzles to improve problem solving skills . In Advanced Chess, it's time to put those skills into action. This class focuses on real-time game playing with personalized coaching, and adds in new concepts that take the game to the next level.

AI Awareness for Parents Webinar A

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning have been around for over a decade. However, they gained widespread attention when ChatGPT was made public. This technology is being used by people of all ages and backgrounds and is redefining many things.

This webinar aims to introduce this technology briefly to those who are not aware of it or those who use it but don't understand how it works. It will also address some of the potential long-term effects of this technology.

The objective is to encourage intentional and responsible use of this technology, and to help people grow in virtue.

Intermediate Ballroom Dance Workshop - Lethbridge

Time to further develop your skill! Mike and Michele Barter will work with you to strengthen your skills and add in new steps for the waltz, fox trot, jive and rumba, You will also add new dances like the cha-cha and samba. This workshop reinforces ballroom etiquette, giving you the life skills that stem from practicing courtesy. Students benefit from the training in social graces as well as the opportunity to spend time with other home schoolers.

Anyone under the age of 18 will need to have a registered parent or guardian present at the workshop/ball.

Open to non-WISDOM families; WISDOM families take precedence.

Registration begins at 9:30am

Dance workshop all day with a break for lunch. 

Bring a bag lunch, and a main dish and salad or dessert for the potluck supper. Ball begins at 7:00pm. Please bring a change of clothes for the ball. Semi formal to formal attire. 

Prices:
$175 per family
$45 per individual 

Drop in for the grand ball: $50 per family and $15 per individual.

Pricing for non-WISDOM families:
$196 per family, $50.40 per individual.
Drop in for the grand ball: $56 per family and $16.80 per individual
