Indoor Rock Wall Climbing - Calgary GWhen: December 4, 2023 from 11 - 1pm Who: Ages 10+ Top Rope This two-hour class is will teach you the basic skills required to top-rope climb and belay. Top rope climbing is where the climber is securely attached to a rope that runs through a fixed anchor at the top and back down to the belayer at the base of the climbing route. Learn how to put on your harness, tie the proper knots and manage the rope belay systems. You and your partners will climb together under the supervision of our instructors. All climbers must have:
A waiver must be completed for each participant or anyone who will be going into the climbing areas (teachers/volunteers). If participants are under 18, they must be completely filled out by a parent or legal guardian. If participants are over 18, they must have government issued photo ID. We recommend that you 10 minutes before your lesson’s start time. Parental presence is required. |

Indoor Rock Wall Climbing - Calgary FWhen: December 4, 2023 from 1:00pm - 2:00pm ClimbPark Have fun trying our diverse wall elements. Under the supervision and help of our staff, participants can all climb at the same time using the auto-belay machines that help you climb and let you down automatically once you reach the top. You will slide, drop, jump and race on our unique and challenging walls. Participants can work together, complete a maze or race to the top. Participants must weigh between 40 lbs and 265 lbs and require a completed waiver form. We recommend this activity for ages 6 and up (but do permit 5 year olds when appropriate). Survival: Knife and Axe Safety B - Red DeerWhen: December 4 from 1 - 3pm Using knives and axes is a core skill that both youth and adults should have for basic camping, wilderness living or a survival situation. Participants will learn about different types of knives and axes as well as their proper use. A large part of the class is set aside for safe practices while handling cutting tools. Participants will then be able to practice using knives and axes to effectively and safely process firewood to tinder, kindling and fuel. This program is geared towards home school students ages 6 – 17. While parents are not obligated to participate in these workshops, a parental representative must be present for students. Parents and younger siblings are also welcome to stay for the duration of the workshop free of charge. We ask that paid participants be given the space to fully engage and participate in the program. We run our programs rain or shine and encourage parents/students to check the weather on the day of the workshop and dress accordingly. We suggest wearing layers, as well as long pants and closed toed shoes. |

Grande Prairie Family Get TogetherOngoing Coffee & Conversation for moms at Anella's house on the second Monday evening of each month, 7:30 - 9:30pm. No childcare will be provided but nursing babies are welcome. Teens will watch a Christmas movie this time. Snacks and drinks provided for moms. Teens please bring a snack to share with the other teens. Concurrently, there will be teen activities (movie night, board games etc). Stay tuned for January's coffee date! ML: Screen Impact CFinding BalanceParents, join us for this workshop on the impact of screens. At your discretion, due to sensitive content, you may invite children aged 16+ to participate with you. Workshop runs from 2 pm – 3 pm on December 5, with an optional Part 2 on December 12. There is no prerequisite for this workshop. As participants meet in a virtual classroom, a microphone headset, a strong internet connection and speakers are required. |
