When: Tuesdays and Thursdays, Feb 12 - Mar 21 2024 from 12 – 1:30pm

This workshop is intended to assist students who are preparing for the written portion of the English 30 Diploma exam. Students will learn to decode essay prompts and utilize effective essay formatting. Applicants need to have advanced writing experience.

This workshop covers the 2 essay types of the written portion of the exam: the Critical/Analytical Response to Literature and the Personal Response. Students will be taken through an 6 week program to cover each of the 7 scoring categories of the exam to help students achieve the highest score they can. Students will meet up to 90 minutes twice a week, and will have lots of hands-on writing practice and feedback. Marks for essays and mock-exam in this workshop may be used toward the ELA course challenge portfolio.

Workshop acceptance based upon application. A maximum of eight students will be accepted.

Top Rope

This two-hour class is will teach you the basic skills required to top-rope climb and belay. Top rope climbing is where the climber is securely attached to a rope that runs through a fixed anchor at the top and back down to the belayer at the base of the climbing route. Learn how to put on your harness, tie the proper knots and manage the rope belay systems. You and your partners will climb together under the supervision of our instructors.

All climbers must have:

  1. A completed CCC Waiver
  2. Comfortable clothing to climb in
  3. Clean shoes to climb in

A waiver must be completed for each participant or anyone who will be going into the climbing areas (teachers/volunteers).

If participants are under 18, they must be completely filled out by a parent or legal guardian. If participants are over 18, they must have government issued photo ID.

We recommend that you 10 minutes before your lesson’s start time.
