This six-week program is a unique opportunity to play the game while improving skills in Problem Solving, Deductive Reasoning and Creative Thinking by solving chess puzzles and executing a systematic process to beat your opponent. While this program is called "beginner" it will challenge your chess player and keep them engaged, even if they have been playing for years. |

Family Floor Hockey HWhere: Westmount School When: 6:30 – 8pm Join us twice a month for fun family floor hockey. No experience or skills required. Ages 9+. Please bring a plastic blade floor hockey stick, indoor non marking running shoes and a water bottle. We will have a limited amount of extra sticks to borrow if you forget yours and the floor hockey balls. Parents must stay with children, participation of parents strongly encouraged but not necessary. Feel free to watch. |

How to Build a Digital PortfolioWhen: April 23, 7 – 9pm This webinar focuses on applying the Portfolio Workshop concepts to creating a digital Portfolio system. Our instructor will propose a digital solution for managing your child's learning history records, which include project reports, essays, piano recitals, and other accomplishments. Learn how to easily add and update records, as well as create custom portfolios that can be exported, printed, or even shared online! This webinar is ideal for anyone who has completed the Portfolio Workshop and wants ideas for creating it digitally. |

Survival: Fire Building F - Grande PrairieWhen: May 23 from 10 - 12pm Want to attend all four Survival workshops in the Grande Prairie area? Register here for a discounted rate! This class builds on the skills learned in Fire Starting however that class is not a prerequisite. Participants will learn about the science of fire and learn how to light, build and maintain an effective fire in many situations and environments. The class also covers how to source proper materials to burn and also how to troubleshoot issues building and maintaining fire. This program is geared towards home school students ages 6 – 17. While parents are not obligated to participate in these workshops, a parental representative must be present for students. Parents and younger siblings are also welcome to stay for the duration of the workshop free of charge. We ask that paid participants be given the space to fully engage and participate in the program. We run our programs rain or shine and encourage parents/students to check the weather on the day of the workshop and dress accordingly. We suggest wearing layers, as well as long pants and closed toed shoes. |

Chess: Advanced Continuation Class Q - All AgesPrerequisite: Chess: Intermediate Continuation Class This Workshop is for students who have completed the beginner and intermediate chess workshops and are ready for some fine tuning to their skills. Students have learned core chess concepts, while solving puzzles to improve problem solving skills . In Advanced Chess, it's time to put those skills into action. This class focuses on real-time game playing with personalized coaching, and adds in new concepts that take the game to the next level. |

Survival: Natural Adhesives A - Grande PrairieWhen: May 23 from 1 - 3pm Want to attend all four Survival workshops in the Grande Prairie area? Register here for a discounted rate! Learn to make an all-natural adhesive using ingredients found in nature. Class discussion will include the Indigenous origins of adhesive, as well as practical uses. Participants will then create their own adhesive using materials found in the area before using the glue to make tools or crafts out of all natural materials. Learn to track animals with this class that explores different types of animal tracks, animal behaviours, as well as natural habitats. This class teaches students of the outdoors the unexpected skill of slowing down and paying attention to natural surroundings, as well as building appreciation of the ways nature works as a system. Participants will also learn how to orient themselves using natural cues. This program is geared towards home school students ages 6 – 17. Survival: Spring Foraging/Spruce Tip Tea H - Grande PrairieWhen: May 24 from 1 - 3pm Want to attend all four Survival workshops in the Grande Prairie area? Register here for a discounted rate! Whether in a survival situation or simply going for a hike, knowing where to find food and useful materials outdoors is an important skill. Participants will learn about the traditional uses of local plants, fungi and trees, as well as how to identify other useful materials that would support wilderness survival. The class will end with some spruce tip tea. Please bring your own reusable mug! This class makes a great precursor to the Wild Food and Outdoor Cooking class. Celebratory Grande BallIn honour of WISDOM’s Graduates of 2024 Date: May 25, 2024 Graduating students, their families and friends are invited to join us for this free event celebrating our 2024 graduates. There will be no formal ceremony, but simply an opportunity to get together with other grad families, learn a few basic ballroom steps, visit, dance and celebrate with your family and friends!
