Investing can be overwhelming, but it is also essential to our financial futures. Investing is unavoidable: it affects us and our families both directly and indirectly, and the investment industry itself is enormous. Globally, investment markets are worth hundreds of trillions of dollars. Whether we like it or not, investing is a fundamental part of life in the twenty-first century. In this course, Travis Callaway will make investing easy to understand, using practical examples and real-life scenarios to help students learn how to invest their own money responsibly. The course includes six lessons, each focusing on a different part of the overall investment puzzle.

Class 2 — Understanding Canadian Investment Accounts

Class 3 — Stocks, ETFs, Index Funds, and How the Stock Market Works

Class 4 — Lower-Risk Investments

Class 6 — Building an Investment Plan for Teens

Travis earned an MBA in finance at Durham University and the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He has worked as a private equity analyst, a portfolio management senior analyst, a director of private equity, a managing director of venture capital, the vice-president of finance for a technology start-up company, and as a part-time chief financial officer for several companies. He is an active investor in start-up companies in the real estate, legal, financial, and medical industries, the co-founder of a financial advisory business, and teaches business, finance, and investing at the University of Calgary, Mount Royal University, and the University of Lethbridge.
