Winter First Aid: This hands-on class empowers participants to feel confident, prepared, and connected to the natural world—even when the temperature drops. We will cover Cold Weather Emergencies: Learn how to identify signs of hypothermia, frostbite, and other cold-related illnesses, and know what to do when someone needs help. We’ll also explore how understanding and respecting nature is a key part of staying safe outdoors. Participants will develop a deeper appreciation for the land and learn how to enjoy Alberta’s winter landscapes responsibly.
Fire Starter Making: In this class participants will learn about what makes good sources of tinder and kindling for making the best possible fire. We will cover the opportunities and challenges with fire-starting in less than ideal conditions. We will then make our own fire starters using natural materials that you can take home to use to light your next fire (Safely).
This is not a drop off program. If your student is not accompanied by an adult, they will not be able to participate in the program. Parents and children 5 and under are free with paying child.
