In conjunction with the Foundations Workshop and the Behaviour Workshop, this session explores cognitive processes—specifically how the brain thinks—and emphasizes the importance of developing these processes. By doing so, children can better understand their world, discern God's will for them, and act in accordance with his will in faith and integrity.

In this workshop:

• Move from struggle to success.
• Explore student attitude and belief using the mediational method.
• Assess weaknesses and strengths.
• Support children struggling with focus, memory, confusion, processing, frustration, planning, and learning delays.
• Develop an actionable plan.
• Gain hope, moving from "I can't" to "I can."

Finding Balance

Parents, join us for this workshop on the impact of screens. At your discretion, due to sensitive content, you may invite children aged sixteen and older to participate with you.

Time to further develop your skill! Mike and Michele Barter will work with you to strengthen your skills and add in new steps for the waltz, fox trot, jive and rumba, You will also add new dances like the cha-cha and samba. This workshop reinforces ballroom etiquette, giving you the life skills that stem from practicing courtesy. Students benefit from the training in social graces as well as the opportunity to spend time with other home schoolers.

This is not a drop off program. If your student is not accompanied by an adult, they will not be able to participate in the program.

In this class, students are introduced to different types of axes and how each is designed for specific tasks, such as chopping, splitting, or shaping wood. We focus on safe cutting practices, maintaining a clear work zone, and using controlled, purposeful swings that prioritise technique over strength. Emphasis is placed on treating the axe with respect and understanding it as a practical tool used for gathering firewood, building shelters, and completing other essential tasks in the wilderness. By learning proper technique and safety awareness, participants gain confidence and develop responsible skills for outdoor living in Alberta’s diverse and rugged landscapes.

The aim is to improve cognition, behavioural responses, and foster faith in God and in one another. The workshop consists of a single session lasting five hours.

When: May 2, 9:30 a.m. sign-in; 10:00 a.m. workshop begins.

Our ballroom dance workshops are a great place to have fun while learning the basics of ballroom dancing. You will not only learn the basics—like how to waltz, rumba, foxtrot, and jive—but instructors Mike and Michele Barter will also teach ballroom etiquette. These workshops have trained several generations of homeschoolers in the art of ballroom dance. Students and parents benefit from the training in social graces as well as the opportunity to spend time with other homeschoolers.

This is not a drop-off programme. Students not accompanied by an adult will not be able to participate.

Anyone under the age of 18 must have a registered parent or guardian present at the workshop or ball.

Open to non-WISDOM families; WISDOM families take precedence.

The Association of Independent Schools and Colleges (AISCA) is excited to bring an immersive aviation experience to Edmonton this year! Previously hosted in Calgary, the event is landing at the Edmonton Convention Centre on May 4 and 5, in collaboration with Alberta Aviation, Aerospace & Defence.

Students grades 7-12 will dive into interactive challenges covering aircraft structures, avionics, maintenance, virtual reality, and creative, out-of-the-box problem-solving. 

AISCA teams will be on display not only for attendees of the Aviation, Aerospace, and Defence Summit happening alongside the event, but also for hundreds of local high school students eager to explore careers in Aircraft Maintenance. 

Participants will:

1. Try engaging in hands-on activities
2. Meet local aviation businesses
3. Hear from industry mentors about career pathways

Our students will be assigned a time-slot of one of the following:

A reliable kit should include dependable fire starters to keep you warm and signal for help, as well as sturdy cordage for shelter building, gear repairs, or unexpected emergencies. Adding comprehensive emergency and first-aid supplies and basic tools ensures you’re ready to handle injuries or sudden changes in conditions. With these items packed and ready, you can head into your next adventure knowing you’re equipped for the challenges and surprises the wild may bring. Participants will create their own kits based on their own activities in the wild.

This series of two 2-hour sessions includes instruction, parent participation, and opportunities for questions and answers. Participants meet in a virtual classroom; a microphone headset, stable internet connection, and speakers are required.

In this workshop:

• There is no such thing as “stuck.”
• Use Mediated Learning to work past reading and math difficulties.
• Explore readiness.
• Learn about perception challenges (dyslexia/discalculia) and how to work with your child.
• Understand the roots of reading and math issues, and apply this knowledge toward a fresh start for children affected by negative experiences.
• Receive tips and proven strategies.

Aimed towards the first-timer, this 2 hour session allows participants to learn about the sport of climbing through hands-on (and feet-on) skills.

Ages 6 and up. This is not a drop off program. If your student is not accompanied by an adult, they will not be able to participate in the program. Parents may register and climb as well if they wish. 

Climbing shoes will be provided for sessions. Participants can bring in comfortable clothes, and socks to wear in the climbing shoes.

A waiver from Vertically Inclined will be sent with the registration confirmation. Please fill out one for each climber and send them back!

Jumpstart Your Path to Success!

Unlock growth together in this interactive, three-part workshop series designed to inspire self-direction, boost motivation, and equip students for success both in high school and beyond. Each student participant will receive a personal WISDOM Jumpstart Journal, used as a practical tool during the sessions and afterwards.

Delivered via our virtual classroom, you’ll enjoy:
