Planning for a career can be challenging at the best of times. The rapid advancement of AI, which is upending industries and labour markets, can feel simply overwhelming. Whether we like it or not, we need to plan to work in a world that is being forever changed by AI. In this course, Travis Callaway, an AI investor, university instructor and businessman, will help students prepare for higher education and career decisions in the age of AI using practical examples and real-life scenarios so students can prudently plan for their workplace futures.

Prerequisite: Mediated Learning Foundations

In conjunction with the Foundations Workshop and the Behaviour Workshop, this workshop explores cognitive processes, specifically how the brain thinks, and emphasizes the importance of developing these processes. By doing so, children can better understand their world, discern God's will for them, and act in accordance with His will in faith and integrity. 

In this workshop:

  • Go from struggle to success.
  • Explore student attitude and belief by using the mediational method.
  • Assess weaknesses and strengths.
  • Help children struggling with focus, memory, confusion, processing, frustration, planning and learning delays.
  • Come away with an action plan.
  • Come away with hope; moving from "I can't." to "I can."

Financial WISDOM: Money and Finance Made Easy B E1013

Money and Finance Made Easy: Money can be a mystery. What is it? How does it work? How do I earn it? How do I save it? How do I invest it? Whether we like it or not, money affects us all and is essential to our lives in the twenty-first century. In this course, Travis Callaway will make money and the financial decisions we all encounter simple to understand, using practical examples and real-life scenarios to help students prepare for their own financial futures. The course will include six lessons, each focusing on a separate piece of the overall financial puzzle:

  1. What Is Money and How Does It Work?
  2. Banking Basics
  3. Budgeting and Spending Wisely
  4. Credit, Debt, and Credit Cards
  5. Saving and Investing for the Future
  6. Real-World Financial Decisions

Travis earned an MBA in finance at Durham University and the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. He has worked as a private equity analyst, a portfolio management senior analyst, a director of private equity, a managing director of venture capital, the vice-president of finance for a technology start-up, and as a part-time chief financial officer for several companies. He is an active investor in start-up companies, the co-founder of a finance advisory business, and teaches business and finance at both the University of Calgary and Mount Royal University.
