Travis is a born-and-raised Albertan who is passionate about the importance of a good education in the modern world and about the critical role parents play as the primary educators of their children. He considers himself not just a lifelong learner but a "forever student" and believes that in an overly technologized era, wherein many people are outsourcing their thinking to artificial intelligence, the uniquely human acts of gaining and applying knowledge are more important than ever.

Travis is a finance, management, strategy and investment professional and has worked in the asset management, higher education, advertising, technology, real estate, communications and entertainment media industries. He has extensive experience serving as a director and board member, teaching business and finance at both the high school level and the university level, serving as an executive for growing businesses in multiple industries, and investing in venture capital, private equity and capital markets. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Law & Society at the University of Calgary and a Master of Business Administration in Finance at Durham University. He studied but did not complete the Bachelor of Laws program at the University of Essex and is completing a Master of Theological Studies degree at the University of Toronto. He passed each of the Chartered Financial Analyst ("CFA") exams on the first attempt, was a CFA charter holder and taught the CFA curriculum for several years. He currently teaches business and finance in multiple Alberta universities.
