Document submission
This form is for submitting ID so we can verify new student registrations. If you're looking for the form to submit expense claims and receipts, that's here.
We are required to collect a copy of identification - either a Birth Certificate or Canadian Passport - for each student.
We recommend that you do not submit identification via email, but use the secure submitter below. Files will be encrypted and send over a secure network. Please name your files with the last and first name of the student, and please submit files smaller than 2 MB.
We will respond to your submission within two business days. If you do not hear from us, please send your files again, because they have not come through.
To help continue the search for Truth, Goodness, and Beauty, we have created the WISDOM Philosophy Club.
One of the primary principles behind the goals of the WISDOM Socratic Dialogue Online Program is to encourge and strengthen ongoing conversations among families and friends. For course veterans, we hope that dinner discussion may delve just a little deeper and be just a little more rigorous, and that your art of conversation will include more critical thinking and wit than before.
We see students whose desire for learning continues to develop more intentionally. It is for these students, inclined to keep the conversation going outside of class, that we were inspired to offer the Philosophy Club.
Please take a moment to read through the membership requirements below, and if you are interested in joining, please email Program Manager Nicole Noster: nicole@wisdomhomeschooling.com.
Club meetings take place on Mondays, 10:30 - 12 pm in a WISDOM online classroom.
Requirements for Club Members
- Members must have taken one Intermediate course before they join the club.
- Members must have taken or are currently taking a WISDOM online course within the present academic year.

- WISDOM graduates who were club members in their final academic year are welcome to 1 year of continued membership.
Leadership
Our PC leadership is currently helmed by Miriam Novotny, a long-time WISDOM Online Program and Philosophy Club veteran.
Miriam Novotny is an author and scholar with a passion for literature, theology, and the Liberal Arts. Since her graduation from WISDOM in 2019, she has continued to further her education through both independent study and institutes such as ClassicalU and Junius Johnson Academics. She believes that a true education should not only impart knowledge and encourage critical thinking; it should inform the worldview and develop the personhood of the student. This is what the Philosophy Club did for her, and she is eager to share this experience with others. Miriam can be reached at: miriam.mythmaker@gmail.com
Etiquette Guidelines
All students are asked to abide by the following guidelines and common courtesies. Your agreement to these guidelines each term is required in order for you to continue taking any WISDOM online courses. Mutual trust and integrity help to make an excellent learning environment. We want all of our students to have a fruitful and enjoyable experience.
- Always treat fellow participants with respect and courtesy.
- Appropriate language and behaviour is expected at all times.
- Arrive on time, having done your reading or assignment. If you are unable to complete your reading or assignment, please let your tutor know in advance via e-mail. Extensions on written assignment deadlines must be pre-arranged with your tutor.
- Let the tutor know in advance if you will be missing a class. It is your responsibility to obtain your next assignment. Please be sure to request your assignment from your tutor in enough time to complete it before your next class.
- While the class is in session, please do not use the chat box for distracting conversation. Chat box text should pertain to the discussion at hand. Much of the time, students are welcome to visit each other just before class begins or for a short time after class ends. (In some cases this is not possible due to close scheduling of courses.)
- Please do not enter the classroom more than 10 minutes prior to class or leave more than 10 minutes after class finishes. Classes are scheduled close together and new sessions may be starting up immediately after your class finishes.
- Permission is needed from the program manager in order to use the classroom outside of course sessions.
- Parents and students should be aware of Internet dangers and concerns. Please read the email referring to Internet safety and security. When in the classroom, do not surf the net. Do not refer other students to outside websites. Instant messaging/private messaging is not allowed during class time.
- Regarding Online Writing courses: Every paper or report submitted must be the student’s own work. Wording should be the student’s own. Quotes, lectures, Internet sources, books, articles, other writer’s phrases or sentences must be “sourced” or stated. Assignments must be remitted on time. Late assignments will not be graded unless the tutor has authorized a deadline extension.
- Do not give out other students’ email addresses out to anyone.
- If you are experiencing any technical difficulties with the classroom, please contact the online program administrator.
- If you have any concerns regarding behaviour in the class, please contact the online program administrator.
Students who do not comply will be given one warning by the tutor and will be given opportunity to correct their behaviour. Second infractions can result in the student being asked to leave the course.

- Assignments must be remitted on time. Late assignments will not be graded unless the tutor has authorized a deadline extension.
- Content should be of a quality that does not glorify violence, gore, the occult (including possession and spells), or any imagery or presentation that diminishes the dignity of the human person. - You may use a WISDOM purchase order number for WISDOM events if you have funding available, and if you register before any refund has been processed for May. POs may only be used up to May 30th, so please keep that in mind! Many of our families wait to send in receipts until they have booked any camps and workshops, so that their funding is used first for the registration.
- You may not use a Purchase Order to pay for the parent portion of particular events.
- WISDOM accepts Visa and Master Card. You can pay over the phone, and we will issue a receipt which you could later use to claim funding for applicable events.
- WISDOM accepts cheques.
Remember, an event can't run without sufficient numbers to offset costs. Because we don't charge much more than absolutely necessary just to cover costs, we have to have a minimum number of participants registered.
Cancellation: If we have to cancel an event due to low registration, we will refund your money. However, if you cancel within two weeks of a scheduled camp or event, your money can not be refunded. Your last-minute cancellation may otherwise close down an entire event, if the funds are no longer there for us to run it.
QUESTIONS? Please contact the WISDOM office. We look forward to helping you. 780-741-2113 or email events@wisdomhomeschooling.com

For those students in Grades 9-12, the High School Program Choices Form is filled out annually with your facilitator. This helps your student to take greater ownership of their education in these important years.
This is the legacy notification system for submitting notification via email, fax, or mail. Click here to use the highly secure, streamlined online system.
Welcome to the Notification page! Scroll to the bottom for a helpful how-to video, or read on.
To join us, please complete a Notification Form for each child and one Family Form for your family information. We also require a copy of your child’s Canadian Birth Certificate (or proof of Canadian Citizenship). You may include an Education Program Plan (Part D) now, or send it to us separately. (Please note, the deadline for us to submit student data to AB Education is September 29. Please send your paperwork before then.)
The forms are fairly straightforward, though one common question on the Notification Form is regarding the Declaration by Parent (Part B), and the two checkboxes below. If you check the first box, you indicate that you will be using Alberta Curriculum at home, fulfilling all of the same outcomes as you would in school. The second option (most used by home educators) means that you will be creating your own plan for your child, using curricula that suit your goals and your child's learning style so long as your child works toward achieving the “Schedule of Learning Outcomes for Students Receiving Home Education Programs That Do Not Follow the Alberta Programs of Study”. You may view the Schedule of Learning Outcomes here. Please sign the form (both parents if possible), date it, and fax, mail, or scan and email it to us.
If you wish to receive Student Photo ID cards, useful for gaining discounts, free entry into some museums, etc), you may download and print from your Parent Portal Account. Instructions can be found here.
Once we have received your notification, we will contact you to let you know they have arrived. A facilitator will be matched to your family, and will make contact. If you would like immediate contact with a facilitator, please let us know. We look forward to serving you.

You may attach your completed paperwork below to send to WISDOM as an encrypted file. You may email, fax or mail the family form, notification form and program plan, but we recommend that you send identification documents (passport/birth certificate) using the form below. Files will be encrypted and sent over a secure network.
If you do not wish to use the encrypted sender below, you may email the notification form to office@wisdomhomeschooling.com, or mail it to us at: WISDOM Home Schooling Box 78 Derwent, AB T0B 1C0.
