HIGH SCHOOL RESOURCES

WISDOM provides abundant options for home schooling throughout high school, right through to the work force or post-secondary education. Home schooling through high school is an excellent option, even for students who have taken online courses or previously attended a school. In this pursuit of a rich education experience, WISDOM is well known for offering full support to families as students complete high school at home through any one of a wide variety of paths. During visits with high school students, facilitators complete a High School Programs Choices form, which helps the family set concrete goals for high school at home.

Paths students can pursue could include:

  • Entering the world of Work
  • Apprenticeship
  • Entrepreneurship
  • Portfolio
  • Alberta Education Transcript
  • Alberta High School Diploma
  • General Education Development
  • Or other tests such as entrance exams, SAT’s, ACT’s, or CLT’s.

Whatever a student's path through high school to the world beyond, WISDOM supports parents in choosing the approach best suited to their unique child's gifts, goals, and calling.

Find Your Family Money School Fit

Just tell us how old your kids are, and we'll do the rest!

With recent research stating that the average Millennial has over $20,000 in student loan debt, a credit card balance of $2000 and that they owe over $10,000 on their vehicles, the outlook can seem pretty grim for those just starting out on their financial journeys. As parents, we want nothing more than to raise kids who are rock star adults, kids who are thriving spiritually, in their relationships, work, and with their money. But with financial numbers like these, giving your kids the money foundation they need to live the life of their dreams can be enough to keep any parent up at night.

WISDOM Home School contributor Matt Matheson knows exactly what it’s like to feel that way. As a dad of 3 (9, 6, and 2), and a husband to a wife working on post graduate work, and with a job as a Christian school Principal, he knew that if his wife and he were going to give their kids the financial foundation they need to thrive, he was going to have to do it on his own.

With 15 years of classroom experience and a Masters in Education, Matt went to work developing a curriculum to equip the next generation to win with money.

It started at home teaching his daughter and son the basics about money, but quickly expanded to include teaching a personal finance class in his school. As a nationally published personal finance writer with articles and insights appearing in places like Yahoo, the Huffington Post and Reader’s Digest, Matt was able to combine his financial knowledge, educational expertise, classroom experience, and parenting insights to build a series of highly engaging lessons designed to bring the joy back to parents struggling to raise money geniuses.

And now WISDOM has teamed up with Matt to offer families an exclusive deal on his Family Money School Courses. The courses, which include a parent-directed course for kids under 12 and a self-directed one especially for teens, are designed to help both kids and parents navigate the seemingly complex world of money.

At the end of the day, as a parent you want to know that you’ve done everything you can to give your kids the financial foundation they need to thrive with money before they leave the nest. And the courses from Family Money School make that simple.

Parent Portal Applications are Closed for 2024-2025 notification.

This is the legacy notification system for submitting your notification via email, fax, or mail.

Welcome to the Notification page! Scroll to the bottom for a helpful how-to video, or read on.

To join us for the remaining school year, please complete one Family Form, and a Notification Form for each child. We also require a copy of your child’s Canadian Birth Certificate (or proof of Canadian Citizenship), an Education Program Plan (Part D) and a brief letter explaining your need to home educate at this time.

The forms are fairly straightforward, though one common question on the Notification Form is regarding the Declaration by Parent (Part B), and the two checkboxes below. If you check the first box, you indicate that you will be using Alberta Curriculum at home, fulfilling all of the same outcomes as you would in school. The second option (most used by home educators) means that you will be creating your own plan for your child, using curricula that suit your goals and your child's learning style, so long as your child works toward achieving the “Schedule of Learning Outcomes for Students Receiving Home Education Programs That Do Not Follow the Alberta Programs of Study”. You may view that Schedule here. Please sign the form (both parents if possible), date it, and fax, mail, or scan and email it to us.

We are here to help you! Give us a call and one of our Home School Consultants will assist you with this process, answer any questions you may have and help you get all your paperwork submitted.

DEADLINE: Alberta Education requires we submit all student notification on the last business day of September for funding eligibility. If possible, please enroll 5 or more business days prior to the deadline for our data team to review your notification.

Are you a current WISDOM family, returning for 2025-2026? Click here.

Are you new to WISDOM? To join us as a new family in 2025-2026, begin by creating an account in The Gilbertine Academy's secure Parent Portal. Then, simply follow the step-by-step instructions for generating a Notification Form for each child.

You will need to upload an image of your child’s Canadian Birth Certificate or other proof of Canadian Citizenship (a cell phone picture is fine). You will not be able to continue the application until a copy of your child’s identification is uploaded.

You may include an Education Program Plan (Part D) now, or send it separately to office@wisdomhomeschooling.com. (Please note, the deadline for us to transmit finalized student data to AB Education is September 29, so complete all elements of notification, including an Education Program Plan or draft, before that date.)

If you encounter any difficulty, you may use the 'Chat with an agent' button in the bottom right of the portal. We are there to assist you during business hours, and will reply the following business day if your message is sent after hours.

If you prefer to submit notification via email, fax or mail, you may find that information here.
