University of Alberta, Augustana Campus
Augustana is a campus of the University of Alberta, located in Camrose, Alberta, Canada.
WISDOM Home Schooling is pleased to be partnering with Augustana Campus in a pilot project that invites WISDOM students to apply to Augustana with extremely homeschool friendly requirements.
For the first time, home education students will have a pathway to the University of Alberta that compliments the use of traditional homeschool resources, which are not Alberta curriculum specific.
Pursue Truth, Goodness, and Beauty through the WISDOM Socratic Dialogue Online Extra Evaluation courses, and enjoy a simple pathway to the University of Alberta, Augustana Campus.

Track A: Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Management, or Bachelor of Education in Elementary Education (2+2) Degrees
WISDOM Home Schooling students have the opportunity to meet Augustana admission requirements for the Bachelor of Arts, Music, Management, or Education degree programs by completing 3 WISDOM Socratic Dialogue Online Program courses. If math is an admission requirement, Math 30-1 or 30-2 will count in the 3 course calculation, requiring only 2 WISDOM Socratic Dialogue Online Program courses.
Below are approved courses (all 3+ courses must be taken):
1) Mastering the Essay (Extra Evaluation version)
2) 1-2 Extra Evaluation versions of the following courses:
3) Math 30-1 or 30-2 (when required, only the school mark is needed, diploma is optional)
- Programs that require a Math 30-1 or Math 30-2 are indicated below.
- School marks for math courses may be awarded through WISDOM Course Challenge.
Track A Bachelor of Arts, Music, or Education Degrees include the following specialties:
- Creativity and Culture - Bachelor of Arts
- Ethics and Global Studies - Bachelor of Arts
- Performance-Based Pedagogy - Bachelor of Music
- Physical Education - Bachelor of Arts (Math 30-1 or 30-2 required)
- Psychology and Mental Health - Bachelor of Art (Math 30-1 or 30-2 required)
- Sustainability Studies - Bachelor of Arts (Math 30-1 or 30-2 required)
- Law, Crime and Justice Studies - Bachelor of Arts (Math 30-1 or 30-2 recommended)
- Elementary Education - Bachelor of Education 2+2 (Math 30-1 or 30-2 recommended)
The first two years of the program are delivered at Augustana Campus and the final two years of the program are delivered at the North Campus in Edmonton.
Track B: Bachelor of Science Degrees
WISDOM Home Schooling students have the opportunity to meet Augustana admissions requirements for BSc programs by completing 2 WISDOM Socratic Dialogue Online Program courses and 3 Alberta Courses:
WISDOM Courses:
1) Mastering the Essay (Extra Evaluation version)
2) 1 Extra Evaluation version of the following courses:
- Canadian Government
- Continued Great Books
- C.S. Lewis
- History of Western Culture
- Introduction to Political Philosophy
- Shakespeare
Alberta Courses (all 3 required):
1) Math 30-1 School Mark, achieved through WISDOM course challenge or other means
Note: only a “school mark” is required for Math 30-1; the writing of a Diploma Examination is optional.
2 & 3) Alberta Education Transcript for the following two courses:
Note: Diploma Examinations are required for Biology 30 & Chemistry 30.

School portion of the final marks may be awarded through WISDOM Course Challenge.
Track B Bachelor of Science and Combined Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Education Degrees include the following specialties:

- Computing Science and Mathematics - Bachelor of Science
- Environmental Science - Bachelor of Science

Cost
Mastering the Essay - $360
Each of the other 6 course options - $300
Description
All extra evaluation course versions contain 3 evaluated elements:
- Class attendance and discussion on the assigned reading each week
- 3-4 writing assignments for each course
- 2 oral examinations for each course
Completion
Students will be marked for each of these elements to establish an overall grade for the course. When each Extra Evaluation course is complete, the student will receive a WISDOM Transcript for Partnering Universities.
Competitive Requirements
The University of Alberta offers a range of programs, each with its own set of course requirements, averages, and class sizes, which vary from year to year. Specific admission averages are not available, but admission average trends reflecting the last three admission cycles can be found on the UofA website.
Minimum Requirements
The successful applicant must meet or exceed Augustana minimum admission average.
Student marks from WISDOM Extra Evaluation Online courses are recognized for program admission consideration. It is important to note that applications are not accepted on a first come, first served basis, rather, admission is based on the most qualified applicants.
Augustana Application Process
Grade 12 WISDOM students who are interested in Augustana can submit an early application in the current year once the student has achieved one or more of the required courses, to get placed on a communications list and receive conditional acceptance.
Augustana uses a process of automated applications through Apply Alberta. There are standard steps to take when applying through Apply Alberta, and then each specific institution will have its own specific application questions and requirements. To complete early application, a student must:
- Complete at least one of the above courses
- Create an account through Apply Alberta
- Apply for Augustana Campus through Apply Alberta, and upload unofficial transcript of marks
- Pay $125 (non-refundable) application fee
To fulfill the remaining requirements of the application, a student must:
- Complete all required courses for either Track A or Track B
- Contact Christian to request an official WISDOM Transcript for Partnering Universities
