Joan Bishop has been a WISDOM facilitator since 2011. She feels very privileged to meet with home schooling families, coming alongside parents with support and encouragement. She is a strong homeschooling advocate who firmly believes that this is the way to raise children from within close, caring families. She believes that educating children within family is of God's ancient paths; the way of the past that works.
This is what the Lord says:"Stand at the crossroads and look;ask for the ancient paths.ask where the good way is, and walk in it,and you will find rest for your souls."Jeremiah 6:16
Joan says, "Since almost all of us home schooling parents attended school for so many years, we have grown up learning one way of life. To set out on the home schooling journey is a new path and a VERY steep path for all. It is no small feat for any one of us. This kind of daily living is so new and it is not an easy path whatsoever. Oh, but it is right and it is good. We must persevere to make the changes we need to make, within ourselves, and to help our children in every way that we can. The world is very challenging and getting even more so. Our children need careful training and hard work, with us and carefully chosen others, to prepare them for adult life, not unlike an Olympic athlete getting ready to compete."
Joan and her husband Barry have been raising children since 1985 and have home schooled almost all of that time. They have five children, daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren and absolutely love them all. Home is an acreage near Gwynne.
Together they enjoy some sports, especially skiing, tennis and golf, when they make a little time. They like to spend time with friends and family, travel, explore, camp, hike, garden, and tend to their yard and dogs and cats. Joan likes to work, on a variety of projects. She also likes to read, sew, and especially enjoys talking with her children. She has always liked learning with/from her children, from books, but mostly through real life. Sometimes those real life lessons have been difficult, but so often then are amazing lessons. She is watchful for God's plans and purposes in her life and serves Him as best she can. She really enjoys her work for God as a WISDOM facilitator.
