Joan Bishop has been a WISDOM facilitator since 2011. She feels very privileged to meet with homeschooling families, coming alongside parents with support and encouragement. She is a strong homeschooling advocate who firmly believes that this is the way to raise children, from within close, caring family. She believes that educating children within family is of God's ancient paths; the way of the past that God intended.

This is what the Lord says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths. Ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls." Jeremiah 6:16

Joan says, "Since almost all of us homeschooling parents attended school for so many years, we have grown up learning one way of life. To set out on the home schooling journey is a new path. This kind of daily living is so different, but it is right and it is good. It is the hope for our children. The world gets more challenging and confusing with each passing day. Our children need careful training up, with lots of time with their parents and carefully chosen others, to prepare them for adult life."

Joan and her husband Barry homeschooled their five children. They love time together with this growing family. Home is an acreage near Gwynne.

Together they enjoy some sports, camp, hike, garden and tend to their acreage. Joan likes to work on a variety of projects, likes to read, sew, and especially enjoys talking with her children. She has always liked learning with/from her children, from books, but mostly through real life. Sometimes those real life lessons have been very difficult, but have provided the deepest learning. Joan is watchful for God's direction in her life, following Him as best she can. She really enjoys her work for God as a WISDOM facilitator.
